Junior Coaching
We have a small junior section, and take junior fencers from age 10. From January
9th 2008, we will be meeting from 7:00 till 8:30 pm. and are coached by a combination
of our junior coach (Jim Hamilton) and our senior club coach (Prof 'Jes' Smith).
We are starting at this earlier time so that our juniors can have the benefit
of Jes's undivided attention for the first part of the evening.
The format of the evening is as follows
- Initially free fencing and individual lessons or tests until 8:00pm
- Footwork session about 15 minutes
- Group lessons on various topics about 30 minutes
- A fencing ladder or free fencing to finish
The age groups (up to about 14-15) are mixed.
